Dreams
Dreams are an amalgamation of images, memories, emotional sensations, and other subconscious stimuli that human beings and certain other animals experience while asleep. While it’s possible to dream in other phases of sleep, the rapid eye movement or REM sleep stage is when you’re most likely to experience dreams.
The subconscious mind borrows from real-life experiences to construct these surreal and sleep-induced phenomena. Dreams sometimes form somewhat coherent narratives, but they also might feel more like completely random impressions in quick succession on occasion, too.
The way I see it our dreams are like another dimension, where everything is real yet, it is all fake. Most of us just forget about our dreams after we wake up with the thought that "Oh! It was just a dream." At times dreams even leave us a bit disappointed. When you achieve something great or you get your dream job (or when the love of your life tells you that he/she like's you too) and then you just wake up to realize you have been dreaming all this while and then you feel a little disappointed. However, instead of feeling sad about it, you should be motivated by such dreams to work hard and make these dreams into reality. After all, they do say that the distance between dreams and reality is action. But, I am not here to give a motivational speech so let's move on.
Now, I for one am, not a sleep lover. I do like a nap but only according to my proper sleep schedule. I do not sleep late and wake up late. However, I am very fond of the night. I mean it is so brilliant. The starry night, my soft bed, and my dreams. What could be better?
My dreams are mostly silly but that is why I like them. I have a good laugh if I think of them after waking up. Like that one dream where I was making lava in my kitchen and I ended up spilling it everywhere. Instead of being worried that everything was burning, I was more worried that I would have to clean the mess. Another dream was where I was running away from an old lady who was chasing me with a slipper in her hand. She wanted to beat me with it but I didn't even know why........... God, now that I think of it they were so stupid but still, they were fun.
Lucid dreaming is cool if you ask me. For those who are not aware of the concept, Lucid dreams are when you know that you're dreaming while you're asleep. You're aware that the events flashing through your brain aren't happening. But the dream feels vivid and real. You may even be able to control how the action unfolds as if you're directing a movie in your sleep. Creative people are more likely to have a lucid dreams. On one side I think it is fun to be able to control your dreams but, it takes out the funny nonsense and also since you are aware that you are dreaming it doesn't feel the same as a normal dream.
Here are some facts about dreams:
- Dreams are more common in the morning.
- Less stress leads to better dreams.
- Memories inform your dreams.
- Men and women dream differently.
- Negative dreams are more common.
- Part of your brain shuts down while you dream.
- While dreaming, you’re motionless.
- You can take control of your dreams.
- You are likely to forget most of your dreams.
I would like to end this post by saying that life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.
