A memory and a lesson

Hi Friends!!! This is Ishaan and I am back with another post. Hope you all are doing well. So, today I would like to share with you, a memory and a lesson that I learned a few years back. Recently I have been noticing that people these days cannot be pleased easily. It takes a lot of stuff to make them happy. Sometimes people do not get satisfied no matter what, because they don't know what makes them happy. At times we feel sad or depressed and nothing seems to excite us. Well, this blog is just about one of those "blue days"...

So, here I was sitting by the window, looking outside. It was raining heavily, and the pitter-patter of the rain was quite soothing to my mind. The sky was covered with dark clouds. It doesn't rain often around here, but when it does, the view is quite mesmerizing. The rain was accompanied by a pleasant smell - Petrichor.

The tiny raindrops reminded me of a day from a few years ago. The memory of a day from the pandemic-

I woke up in the morning to the sound of my alarm, and just like any other day, I went outside for my morning jog. On stepping outside the door, a slight breeze flew across my face. The sky was covered with dark clouds. I thought to myself "Looks like it's going to rain today." After my jog, I returned home and decided to take a bath. The lockdown had put the world on pause, but life kept going. It was time for my classes. Our classes continued online.

After the class was over, I found out that it was raining outside. I was feeling blue, and the weather outside perfectly matched my mood. The weather made me feel even more lonely, everything seemed so gloomy and depressing. I didn't have many friends who I could talk to and that only added to my problem. The only thing that kept me company was my solitude. The rain had now reduced to a drizzle, and the sky was clearing up. Far in the distance, amongst the mountains, I could see a rainbow. The site was beautiful, it made me feel happy and brought back some positive vibes.

-Those were some of the dullest and most depressing years of my life. In those times only the small bits of happiness helped me keep going. There were times when I felt low and upset, but then I learned the lesson that it has to rain for the rainbow to appear. So, today might not be the best day, but remember that the darkness won't last forever. If not today then tomorrow, good days are coming. No dark cloud can forever prevent the sun from shining.

As for happiness, you don't need big and expensive things to be happy, because happiness is not one big thing, but it's a million small things. Like watching the sunset, sitting on the beach, listening to the waves, feeling the raindrops on my palm, and making good memories with friends and family, all this makes me happy.

We all feel sad, depressed or down sometimes, and it is normal to have these feelings. But, don't stay in that bubble of sadness for too long because life is too short to be sad all the time. If you can find some time to just sit still for a second and look up at the sky and truly appreciate the fact that we get to live + breathe and walk around this insanely beautiful circle rock doing whatever we want, there is a limitless amount of gratitude + peace there.

To sum it all up, be happy and sometimes be sad, because you need both the sun and rain to make a rainbow. Similarly, in life, at times you will feel happy and at times you will feel sad but, when you look back at your life, you will realize that it was a beautiful path. So, give yourself time to heal, to relax, to enjoy, and most importantly, to be you.

So that's it from my side, I will see you in the next blog. Enjoy the rest of the day, be happy, be safe, be bright, and be you.

Ciao!
