Just a little bit of.... patience

They told me that they would be here by two, it's now 2:45, and they still aren't here. I was bored of waiting for them, so I purchased a cup of coffee and sipped it for a while. Even the coffee has finished and they still aren't here. I decided to continue waiting, and at half-past three, they finally arrived. They tested my patience as much as they could, and I am not going to lie, I was starting to lose it.

Hi Friends!!! I am back with another post. Hope you all are doing well. So, any ideas on what today's post might be out? Well, if you guessed 'Patience', then you are right. Do you ever completely lose your patience with a situation, person,  or event? For most of us, there are times when impatience bubbles its way up to the surface of our minds despite our best efforts to be calm and collected.

We lose our patience for a variety of reasons, some of these reasons seem very silly when we look at them afterward, such as:

  • Someone keeps us waiting.
  • We have to repeat a dull, monotonous task.
  • Someone doesn’t catch our meaning quickly enough.
  • the changes we want happen too slowly.
  • Sounds familiar? They do to me. In fact, I can think of all the examples from my own life that have happened over the last week alone.

As reasons for losing patience go, all these examples are flawed because they blame the external world. Losing patience is an internal experience. In the examples above, losing patience is not inevitable. These situations could have been met with kindness, compassion, calm, or even surrender. The real reason we lose patience lies in our minds.

Losing patience occurs when our mind races ahead and doesn't want to accept the moment that we are in right now. Our mind, instead, decides to resist being here; it wants to get us somewhere else, and fast. Of course, once we get somewhere else, there’s no guarantee that this will feel any better because our minds will be just as restless as ever. In fact, it’s only a matter of time before we lose patience again.

Very often, we lose our patience with things or people. However, sometimes we also lose patience with ourselves. We end up losing courage in ourselves and start believing that we can't do it. Result: Our mind gets filled with negative thoughts, and it leads to the deterioration of our mental peace. This is the exact opposite of what we need.

One of the aspects of having patience is mindfulness or a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. One can achieve mindfulness through meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, or basically anything that helps calm down your mind.

My advice is, be patient with everything. But, first, be patient with yourself. We don't judge a seed for trying to become a flower. We don't care how long it takes to bloom, or which direction it decides to go. We simply admire the fact that it grows at all. We're mystified by it. Be mystified by your journey...it's effin magic.

That's all from my side. See you in the next blog until then be safe and
